Ava Lambert began her Master’s degree in January of 2019. Ava’s work focuses on piRNAs and genome content in salamanders and copepods.

Alex Adams began his PhD in Fall of 2018. Alex’s work focuses on chromatin structure and cellular ultrastructure accompanying genome expansion in salamanders.

Scott Melander began his Master’s degree in Fall of 2017 and is on the home stretch. Scott’s thesis explores the effects of metabolic rate and sex chromosomes on hybridization in salamanders and other vertebrates.

Dr. Wang Jie joined the lab as a visiting professor from the Center of Herpetology in the Chengdu Institute of Biology, Chinese Academy of Sciences in Fall of 2017. While visiting CSU, Wang Jie worked on the evolution of piRNAs and genome size in Chinese salamanders. In his own lab, Wang Jie works on conservation genetics and sex chromosome evolution in salamanders. We hope to welcome Wang Jie back for another visit in 2019.
